ATP Hockey Talks Vol. 28 - Whitney Olsen

My guest today was born in Eagan Minnesota. He was a 4-year varsity letter winner, while playing in the top division of the Minnesota State High School League, captaining his squad and earning All-Conference and All-State Honorable Mention accolades as a Senior. After prep school, he went on to play Junior Hockey with the New England Huskies of the Eastern Junior Hockey League before signing on to an NCAA division I program at American International College. After a 4-year playing career, a double major in Marketing & Management and graduating Cum Laude, he made his way to Hong Kong where he joined InetAsia and started his coaching and playing career abroad. He’s currently coaching in the Jr Tigers program and lacing em up in the CIHL with the Macau Aces. Please welcome to ATP, Whitney Olsen.

My guest today grew up in beautiful Toronto, Canada. He developed his love for hockey at an early age watching some of the Leafs all-time greats lace’em up at historic Maple Leaf Gardens. After High School, he accepted a scholarship to Plymouth State University, where he competed in multiple sports. Years later, he found himself in the middle of a democracy uprise in Thailand and swiftly followed in his family’s footsteps by diving head first into the world of journalism. He’s been living and working in Thailand since the early 90’s and is known in Bangkok as “The Godfather” of hockey. My guest tonight is a fellow Nova Scotian and St.FX graduate, born in the beautiful town of Anitgonish. He began his Career as a linesman in the QMJHL in 2005. Only 6 years later, he signed his first contract in the NHL. He has since officiated over 600 regular season games, 64 playoff games, four Conference Finals and two Stanley Cup Finals. My guest today is from beautiful British Columbia. He played eleven seasons in the NHL for the Colorado Rockies, New York Rangers and a brief stint in Los Angeles with the Kings. He was the captain of the Rangers for five seasons, a five time NHL All-Star, Memorial Cup Champion and MVP, WHL Player of the Year, twice suited up for Team Canada and was inducted into the BC Hockey Hall of Fame. He’s currently working with the Hong Kong Academy of Ice Hockey and helping develop hockey across Asia. He is easily the biggest hitter in Hong Kong’s hockey world, both literally and figuratively. ATP Hockey Talks Vol. 21 - Pascal Morency

My guest today vient de La Belle Province, Quebec, Canada. He’s had an amazing hockey career and an incredibly inspiring journey through life. He played 12 years of professional hockey in six different leagues, including 125 games in the AHL. He was an ECHL All-Star, in 2002 led the QMJHL with 596 penalty minutes and in 2013 won a championship in Slovenia. He’s now in Indianapolis working at the Center of Excellence as a success coach, coaching the U13 AAA Tri-State Spartans and he’s a mental health advocate. His voice and his message are of utmost importance. He’s one of the hardest working hockey players I’ve ever watched and a fan favourite everywhere he’s played.
