He eventually joined a silicon valley law firm and was then named partner at New York firm, Baker McKenzie. He went on to lead a private equity fund and now continues doing projects between Beijing and New York. He spent 20 years playing pro hockey all over the world including five different NHL and AHL teams, with stops in the East Coast League, IHL, CHL and a handful of European leagues. My special guest today is from one of my favourite towns on the planet, Antigonish Nova Scotia. Known for it’s hospitality, the Highland Games, and St. F X University, the Antigonish area has also produced some amazing athletes. In my opinion, he took on the hardest position in all of team sports, a hockey enforcer. His career has seen him play for fourteen professional teams, he was an AHL All-Star, led the league in penalty minutes multiple times is the most penalised player in professional hockey history and fought the toughest players to ever put on a pair skates. My special guest today is from a place close to my heart, beautiful Halifax, Nova Scotia. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2003. He’s played in 6 Professional Hockey leagues throughout his career which has seen him lace’em up all over the world. He’s also been a winner, racking up an Under 18 Gold Medal with Team Canada, a World Junior Championship Gold and Silver, a Finnish League Championship and in 2019 an EIHL Championship in Cardiff. My special guest today is from beautiful Richmond, British Columbia. She had two great seasons with the Pacific Steelers of the JWHL, where she put up a point a game. She then went on to play for the University of Connecticut Huskies for four fantastic seasons and became the team’s assistant captain in her final season. After completing her degree in Sport Management she then signed with the Shenzhen KRS Vanke Rays of the CWHL and turned pro at the young age of 22. My special guest today is from Buffalo Grove Illinois. She’s had an incredible hockey career so far and become one of the most decorated female hockey players on the planet. She’s won 2 NCAA Championships, 5 Four Nations Cup Championships, a U18 World Championship Gold, 4 World Championship Gold medals and one Silver, an Olympic Silver medal, an Olympic All-Star and most recently won a WHL Championship with the Shenzhen KRS Vanke Rays. ATP Hockey Talks Vol. 11 - Spencer Foo

My very special guest today is from Edmonton, Alberta Canada. Played his junior career for the Bonnyville Pontiacs in the AJHL before committing to play for the Union College Dutchman, where he enjoyed an incredible three years earning; First Team all American, First Team All star and was a finalist for the Hobey Baker award in 2017. He then signed an entry level contract in 2018 with the Calgary Flames. He had two great seasons in the AHL where he was an Assistant Captain and played a handful of games for the Calgary Flames. My very special guest today holds a Master of Sc in political sociology from the London School of Economics, a B.A. in international relations from the University of Toronto, and a certificate in Chinese language and culture from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He held various positions at the Canadian International Development Agency between 1988 and 2008, working on programs related to China, Russia, strategic policy and international financial institutions. He’s been posted three times to the Canadian Embassy in Beijing, and from 2011 to 2016, served as Director General of Canada’s official development assistance in Asia. Since August 2016, he has been the Consul General of Canada in Hong Kong and Macau. He also happens to be a huge hockey fan and loves supporting Canadian musicians in the city. My very special guest today is from West Bloomfield, Michigan. He started his coaching career at The University of North Dakota in 2010 as their video coach. After four years in North Dakota he made his move to beautiful Newfoundland, to work with the St John’s IceCaps of the AHL for a year and then moved into an assistant coaching position in the ECHL with the Tulsa Oilers for 2 years followed by 2 more with the Jacksonville IceMen. In 2019, he made the move to China as the assistant coach of the KRS Vanke Rays in Shenzhen, helping lead the team to a WHL Championship this season. My guest today is from beautiful Newfoundland, Canada. At the age of 10, he moved to the (Greater Toronto Area) and began his “AAA” hockey career. At 15, was drafted 27th overall to the Peterborough Petes and played 5 seasons, acting as team captain in the last two. After a couple of years playing semi-professional and 4 years in the AUS, unfortunately was forced to retire do to concussion problems. In 2015, was invited to China to run a 4 day hockey camp, and after day 2, was offered a job by the host company. My first guest tonight is from Quebec, Canada. This guy really needs no introduction around this city. He is the longest-serving Executive Director of The Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong (2007-2012). He founded the Hong Kong economic policy think tank and The Lion Rock Institute, where he remains an active member. He is the founder and Editor in Chief of Harbour Times (est. 2014), a publication focussed on Hong Kong policy and politics. He’s the Executive Director of Self Storage Association Asia. He has worked for NExChange, The Economist Group, Penton Media and on Parliament Hill with a senior Cabinet Minister in Ottawa. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Biology) from McGill University and an MBA from the University of Victoria. Not to mention. He is is currently the President of The Canadian Club of Hong Kong (since 2015), promoting Canadian culture, history, and values abroad. My friend and known as Mr. Canada in these parts, Andrew Work.

My second guest tonight is the founder of the men’s style e-commerce and consulting business Style Standard and a director of The Amber Foundation. He’s a board member of the Canadian Club of Hong Kong and the son of one of the founders of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong. Born in Toronto, he’s a fourth-generation Hong Konger and spends his time between the two cities and Thunder Bay, Ontario. Tonight I talk about the NHL stoppage, the CIHL playoff push and the Coronavirus. My guest graduated from the Medical school of the University of Hong Kong in 2007 and obtained his Fellowship in Orthopaedics & Traumatology in 2015. His postgraduate studies include a Masters of Science in Sports Medicine and Health Science (2013, CUHK) and a Masters in Public Health (2018, HKU). He’s the associate consultant in the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology of Tseung Kwan O Hospital, and is current the Surgeon in Charge in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopic Surgery. He is also currently Chief Medical Officer and member of the Board of Directors for the Hong Kong Lacrosse Association (HKLA). He served as the team doctor for all Hong Kong representative teams for lacrosse since 2013 and is one of the commissioned members of the Hong Kong Association of Sports Medicine and Sports Science.
