My very special guest today is from West Bloomfield, Michigan. He started his coaching career at The University of North Dakota in 2010 as their video coach. After four years in North Dakota he made his move to beautiful Newfoundland, to work with the St John’s IceCaps of the AHL for a year and then moved into an assistant coaching position in the ECHL with the Tulsa Oilers for 2 years followed by 2 more with the Jacksonville IceMen. In 2019, he made the move to China as the assistant coach of the KRS Vanke Rays in Shenzhen, helping lead the team to a WHL Championship this season. My very special guest today is a fantastic hockey player, a StFX graduate, husband and father of two beautiful boys. His career has taken him places he likely never thought he’d be. He’s played professional hockey on multiple continents, he’s won National Championships, captained teams along the way while leading many of his teams in scoring. My very special guest today happens to be one of my mentors and someone I had the pleasure of learning from as a player and student. He comes from a predominant hockey family in Nova Scotia. His father, the late John “Jr” Hanna, played in The Original Six. He’s enjoyed a great career as a both player and coach and is now the assistant GM for the Cape Breton Eagles of the QMJHL. My guest today is from beautiful Newfoundland, Canada. At the age of 10, he moved to the (Greater Toronto Area) and began his “AAA” hockey career. At 15, was drafted 27th overall to the Peterborough Petes and played 5 seasons, acting as team captain in the last two. After a couple of years playing semi-professional and 4 years in the AUS, unfortunately was forced to retire do to concussion problems. In 2015, was invited to China to run a 4 day hockey camp, and after day 2, was offered a job by the host company. After eventually accepting, spent 18 months with them, then left to start his own club, Black Armour Hockey China. Please welcome, Jon Howse

My first guest tonight is from Quebec, Canada. This guy really needs no introduction around this city. He is the longest-serving Executive Director of The Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong (2007-2012). He founded the Hong Kong economic policy think tank and The Lion Rock Institute, where he remains an active member. He is the founder and Editor in Chief of Harbour Times (est. 2014), a publication focussed on Hong Kong policy and politics. He’s the Executive Director of Self Storage Association Asia. He has worked for NExChange, The Economist Group, Penton Media and on Parliament Hill with a senior Cabinet Minister in Ottawa. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Biology) from McGill University and an MBA from the University of Victoria. Not to mention. He is is currently the President of The Canadian Club of Hong Kong (since 2015), promoting Canadian culture, history, and values abroad. My friend and known as Mr. Canada in these parts, Andrew Work.

My second guest tonight is the founder of the men’s style e-commerce and consulting business Style Standard and a director of The Amber Foundation. He’s a board member of the Canadian Club of Hong Kong and the son of one of the founders of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong. Born in Toronto, he’s a fourth-generation Hong Konger and spends his time between the two cities and Thunder Bay, Ontario. Tonight I talk about the NHL stoppage, the CIHL playoff push and the Coronavirus. My guest graduated from the Medical school of the University of Hong Kong in 2007 and obtained his Fellowship in Orthopaedics & Traumatology in 2015. His postgraduate studies include a Masters of Science in Sports Medicine and Health Science (2013, CUHK) and a Masters in Public Health (2018, HKU). He’s the associate consultant in the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology of Tseung Kwan O Hospital, and is current the Surgeon in Charge in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopic Surgery. He is also currently Chief Medical Officer and member of the Board of Directors for the Hong Kong Lacrosse Association (HKLA). He served as the team doctor for all Hong Kong representative teams for lacrosse since 2013 and is one of the commissioned members of the Hong Kong Association of Sports Medicine and Sports Science. Born in Vancouver, Canada, and like a lot of Canadian kids, grew up with a passion for sports. Not just playing, but at a young age had visions of someday becoming a broadcaster. After high school he went to BCIT to study Radio Broadcasting. He began with a weekly sports radio show in 82/83 on the campus station. After graduating in 83, took a radio job at CJAT, Trail BC in July 1983 doing live play by play of LL baseball and both junior B (KIJHL) and senior (WIHL) hockey. After Trail, he spent six years working in radio news in Vancouver. In March,1994 made the move to HK where he spent 22 years at TVB, 18 years of those at The Pearl Report. My guest today, from Montreal Quebec, is known by many as Mr Hockey across China. He’s spent the majority of his adult life promoting and teaching the game of hockey across the pond in China. He has been part of the youth hockey development in China since 2008 and has done everything from coaching to organising international events . He is currently working as a hockey consultant for China Hockey Group, promoter for the Kunlun Red Star and youth hockey coach in Beijing. Please welcome Mark Simon.

As well as recording and mixing the who’s who of the international Canto-pop business, Rob has been a major player with the growth of the Hong Kong indie music scene - building studios and working with and training local artists and engineers .He’s also played a very important role in the development of hockey in Hong Kong. Our guest tonight is a strength and conditioning coach and a multi-sport international athlete with a passion for improving health. He leads various Youth programs, he has 19 years of coaching experience and is the current Operations manager at Strive Fitness Hong Kong. Daryl Wong is native to Hong Kong and Kyle Haynes is a Welshman who moved here back in 2002. Yes, that’s right folks. The Welsh can play hockey too! Together, this dynamic duo have done amazing things for the scene and have helped the Inline Hockey Program blossom into a kick ass division!
